The Food Wine Design Fair 2011

This weekend saw the roof of Hyde Park Shopping Centre transformed into a playground for Joburg’s foodies and design fundis. The annual Food Wine Design Fair, now its second year, kicked off with an opening party on Thursday night, and ran all day Friday to Sunday. One of the highlights was the Goet-designed House and Leisure stand, from which award-winning chef David Higgs whipped up his popular prawn curry, and other goodies made exclusively from ingredients on sale at the fair. FWD guests were treated to live music as they trawled the stands, admiring and sampling the best of local produce and design. The Joburg HL team was there in full force, and they loved the fine balance between the three facets of the fair, as well as the creative ways in which the exhibitors displayed their wares. A huge success for the second year running, the Food Wine Design Fair is set to be a regular feature on Joburg’s annual social calendar.   Naomi Larkin Editor – House and Leisure   Text: Written for Naomi by Roberta Coci, HL’s Senior/Online Editor, Joburg Images: Supplied
