NEST bookends and magazine racks

We're all familiar with the joys of a home filled with countless books and magazines. The problem is that ‘filled’ can quickly become ‘cluttered’, ‘untidy’ and ‘overwhelmed’. Durban-based designer Sam Boylan's latest range of nifty products address just this dilemma – and they do so stylishly, to boot. These quirky steel bookends and wall-mounted magazine racks from NEST – Sam’s new design venture – are the perfect way to introduce order to your publications and a pop of colour to your living or office space. Incorporating a variety of adventurous shapes and designs, from kewpie dolls to doves, these accessories echo his functional yet fun design vision. ‘I wanted something that is practical but that makes a bright, funky statement and has a playful feel to it,’ he says. They're an ideal addition to any environment, but as smart storage items they are especially handy for small spaces – a theme on our minds this month (see the March issue, which is on shelf now). Both products are powder coated in a range of vibrant colours. The bookends sell for R120 each (available in a left and right pair or single) and the magazine racks for R250 each. To order visit re-store.co.za or contact Sam Boylan on sam@re-store.co.za, 083-788-7299 or his partner Kathryn Du Toit on kathryn@telkomsa.net, 083-270-0880. Delivery nationwide takes 3 to 4 working weeks. They are also available online from iKhaya. Text: Dayle Kavonic
