We caught up with Kirsten Zschokke, owner of the beloved Cape Town eatery Miss K, about all things food related. What food trends do you think will be big in 2012? Whoopee cookies, mobile food caravans. Best part of working on the 2012 HL Food issue? Seeing the photographers shooting your food and the magazine layouts before they go to print. Which fellow local chefs do you admire? Liam Tomlin. Favourite local food market? The Neighbourgoods Market at the Old Biscuit Mill, Woodstock, Cape Town. The one dish that you think screams ‘summer’? Watermelon. If you could have any superpower for a day, what would it be? To be able to multi-task on a superpower level. Your personal foodie weakness? Grilled crayfish. Best childhood food memory? My mom’s homemade chocolate cake.
