We recently chatted to foodie and blogger Ishay Govender-Ypma about her love for food, her thoughts on the House and Leisure 2012 Food Issue and more… (Hashtag: #HLFood) @houseleisureSA Today we’re chatting to @foodandthefab about #HLFood. Thanks for joining us Ishay! @foodandthefab Pleasure. Have we all had breakfast yet?#HLFood @houseleisureSA Eeek. I hang my head in shame as I say I had leftover pizza for breakfast. It did have buffalo mozzarella though! #HLFood @foodandthefab Some points for calcium and good taste then 😉 #HLFood @houseleisureSA That was my thinking! So, what was your first impression of the 2012 #HLFood magazine? @foodandthefab I’m a fan of dark wood, so very appealing to me. Simple, elegant & that must be one large egg or one very small cleaver #HLFood @houseleisureSA Glad you like it. The question is, which came first – the cleaver or the egg? 😉 #HLFood @foodandthefab The cover made me smile; I thought of @chinghehuang of Ching’s Kitchen running all over LDN with her cleaver #HLFood @houseleisureSA Have you had a chance to try any of the recipes?#HLFood @foodandthefab A number of Raphaella’s recipes are very similar to food I prepare (just posher looking). I have my eye on the brandy snaps. I’ve always wanted to since days of reading Enid Blyton’s Faraway Tree.Brandy snaps – the comeback! #HLFood @houseleisureSA They do look rather irresistible, nice choice! And I’m sure @iwantcupcake will be very glad to hear you think her recipes look posh!#HLFood @foodandthefab Must say @iwantcupcake has done a fantastic job. I bet no sleep was had in the making of #HLFood @houseleisureSA We agree 100%! So it is safe to say you have something of a sweet tooth? What’s your favourite summer dessert?#HLFood
@foodandthefab I enjoy both sweet and savoury.Lately sweet pineapple carpaccio w mint & praline gets my vote.#HLFood
@houseleisureSA Oh my word that looks amazing! Have you tried adding your own flair to any of the #HLFood dishes yet?
@foodandthefab I love the simplicity of Neil Roake’s Prawns in Beer. I’ve added cider and chilli. I also do Koftas with chopped coriander, chilli and mint. Really a crowd pleaser. Lamb meatballs in general, seems to be. #HLFood
@houseleisureSA Yum! Neil’s prawns really are summer cooking at its best… Finally, is there anything you’d like to see more of in our next#HLFood issue?
@foodandthefab You’ve achieved a comprehensive food round up-well done! Accessible Indigenous & Malay recipes – my suggestion#HLFood
