HL Food recipes

Our second HL Food magazine is currently on shelf and I suggest you get cooking! It's filled with 67 delicious recipes that you’ll really want to try. Like last year’s inaugural issue, the magazine features four distinct sections: Easy Living, Summer, Winter and Luxury. We were also fortunate to be able to include recipes from top South African chefs, including Peter Tempelhoff, Christiaan Campbell, Werner Snoek, Malika van Reneen and others. Get ready for some serious food cravings as you flip through the pages... To celebrate the occasion, HL hosted a Mystery Dinner (one of our favourite trends in the Trend Report 2012, featured in our January/February issue, also on sale now) in Johannesburg. We invited key members of the media and we went all out with the decor, food, wine and ambience. The evening included several big trends, like statement glass, big-leafed indoor plants, art for the people, the champagne coupe and artisan tequila. The delectable dishes we ate were all recreated from the 2012 HL Food issue. You can view pictures of the event on our Facebook page. Here I've selected four of my favourite dishes that we sampled during the evening: spicy pineapple cucumber gazpacho (page 56), caramel pumpkin pie with marshmallow topping (page 101), seared tuna squares on olive oil and vinegar mash (page 108) and tomato and ricotta rice-paper parcels (page 24). If you haven't already, we encourage you to get creative in the kitchen and test a few of these recipes yourself.
