Reason enough to peel yourself off the sofa and head outdoors – this annual winter festival promises to lift your spirits. From 29 June to 1 July 2012 the False Bay village of Gordon’s Bay will transform itself for the weekend long winter carnival. Expect delicious food and drink, live performances, music and shopping. We’ve earmarked a few of the weekend’s highlights for you below:
- 29 June 2012: Head down to Melt’s Tavern on the corner of Faure Marine and Miller Streets at 7pm for a bring ʼn braai.
- 30 June 2012: The Melt-Stock Music Festival starts at 2pm at Melt’s Tavern.
- 1 July 2012: If you’re into classical music and jazz – get yourself to the live music fest at Van Riebeeck Village on Beach Road by 12:30pm.
Daily events will also be running throughout the month from 22 June to 22 July 2012, 10am to 10:30pm. These include the spectacular fairy light display along the beachfront from 6pm to daybreak, a variety of food stalls at Van Riebeeck Village, the ghost house and the arts and crafts market with work by the area’s top local talent (both at Indigo Backpackers on Beach Road). A donation of R40 gets you into the Music Festival Marquee at Van Riebeeck Village. As a community run initiative the rest of the festival is free.
