Colour Palettes for 2012

One of the big anticipated trends for this year, as mentioned in the House and Leisure Trend Report 2012 (see page 32), is a definite change in the prevailing colour palettes. We've already highlighted the tangerine craze – the hue of choice if you're determined to make a statement – while the return of neons is also expected to shake up the decor scene. Here we're highlighting the more subdued colours that are set to be in the spotlight in 2012. On page 33 we list the three ‘power’ hues that are predicted to dominate: powder-blue, jade green and mustard yellow. Fresh off the catwalk, these unconventional colours are already being applied to decor pieces and items of furniture close to home. They're eye-catching, yet surprisingly versatile. We've handpicked some decor and fabric that demonstrate the colours’ arrival. Here’s hoping you’re brave enough to also try these colours on your walls. Have you spotted any items while out and about that echo the same trend? Please post them on our Facebook page or tweet them to @houseleisureSA.   Naomi Larkin Editor – House and Leisure   Stylist: Schalk van Wyk Photographer: Frank Ellis   Stockists: Powder Blue (Pantone Colour, 298C) 1. Flux Chair from Magis, R4 360, Crema Design. 2.
