Col'Cacchio Celebrity Chef Series

Col’Cacchio Pizzeria is turning delicious food into a wonderful contribution to the community, through their annual Celebrity Chef Series. In this great initiative, renowned local chefs are invited to create a signature pizza, which will be sold in Col’Cacchio stores countrywide for a month. This year the Children’s Hospital Trust is the beneficiary of the money raised and all proceeds will go towards the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital and Paediatric Healthcare in the Western Cape. R5 from every pizza sold will go to the trust. In May, Jackie Cameron of the KZN Midlands’ Hartford House Hotel has created a pizza masterpiece called 'Carpe Funghi'.  The pizza is a combination of mozzarella, caramelised onion, oven roasted mushrooms, roasted garlic and Italian Parmesan topped with thinly sliced beef carpaccio, truffle mayonnaise and fresh dill. It has no tomato base which allows the flavours of the sweet onion and fresh dill to come through. Jackie’s pizza has been so popular, one Col’Cacchio branch sold 79 of them in one day. In June, Coco Reinarhz’ will be adding his Bujumbura Pizza, with North African flavoured Chicken Tagine, green olives and preserved lemons is topped with fresh coriander and drizzled with coriander-infused yoghurt to the menu and Chris Erasmus’ Liplekker Ribbetjie will be featured in Julyit boasts a Bechamel base infused with roasted garlic and rosemary and topped with mozzarella, smoked and braised Lamb Soutribbetjie, caramelised onion, pears poached in port, fresh rocket and a sprinkling of rosemary salt. The chef for August is still a mystery but it could be you! Col’Cacchio is running a Pizza Challenge and your gourmet pizza could be on the menu for a month.
