Calico's Craft

Calico’s Craft is the brainchild of Lisa Pivalizza whose passion for all things hand-made forms the basis of this gorgeous new store in Ballito on the KZN North Coast. ‘From beading to scrapbooking, mosaics and decoupage, we do it all at Calico’s,’ says Lisa. ‘We’ve had some ladies asking about crochet classes so we will soon have someone to teach them.’ Calico’s lives up to Lisa’s promise of a ‘special place.’ Filled with colourful beads, ribbons, papers and mosaic tiles, you could spend hours browsing, or, like many customers do, working on your own crafty project sitting at the large table which is a focal point in the shop. ‘We stock unusual items and are committed to a quick turn-around time on orders and repairs,’ explains Lisa. ‘Calico’s will deliver throughout KZN and for further afield, we’ll post.’ Lisa has big plans for the future of Calico’s Craft. ‘We are going to start holding classes away from the store as well as offering a service for wedding invitations, table settings and wedding favours. We have done some window dressings for local shops and plan to do more of that soon, too.’ Classes in making bath salts, soaps and bath bombs are on the agenda as well. Calico’s offers classes for children in the holidays, which have proved extremely popular, especially as Lisa will take them from as little as three years old. For information about classes, keep an eye on the Calico’s Craft Facebook page or send an email to  calicos@telkomsa.net to subscribe to their mailing list.
