Birdhaven’s new gem

Successful jewellery designer Kirsten Goss, who’s known for her handmade, bespoke pieces, has found a permanent home for her collection in Joburg’s Birdhaven Centre. After running her store in Kensington, London and opening a studio in Durban, Kirsten sees opening up in Joburg as a logical next step. She believes the buzzing Birdhaven precinct is the perfect setting for her quirky designs. ‘My jewellery isn’t commercial, and my clients are a well-heeled art crowd who appreciate the craftsmanship behind my collections, so being in a centre with an art gallery (InToto) and other niche stores, is ideal.’ Kirsten has a large client base in Joburg, and has always made sure to cater to their needs. ‘In the past I’ve done monthly shows in the city, but I felt I needed a space where clients could come and not get caught in a bottleneck of people,’ she told us. Judging by the crowd of loyal clients at the opening last night, Kirsten’s new store is set to be yet another successful step in this young entrepreneur’s flourishing career.
