For her nine-to-five Jacqui McArthur is an interior stylist at her own company, Brooke Eva, where she injects clients homes with the kind of style she shows in her personal space. Outside of this, Jacqui is a mother to two little ones and has crafted an elegant home that’s geared to both entertaining and family life.
Here she shares some of her favourite shops to pick up decor and homeware for kids’ rooms.
Fenn + Ivy
‘I love the new store Fenn + Ivy in Pietermaritzburg, Natal. It stocks a variety of quirky soft toys, throw cushions and art. They also sell the most amazing clothing and handbags for both moms and tots.’
‘H&M has on-point throw cushions and the best part is they won’t break the bank. It also sells the feather inners, which are equally well priced. Double win. You also cannot go wrong with the accessories and baskets.’
Little Love Kids
‘For bed linen, I love Little Love Kids. They have a beautiful selection as well as art and accessories.’
Clever Little Monkey
‘For furniture, my personal decor opinion is, buy furniture that your child can grow into; steer clear of the infant style. That’s why I love Clever Little Monkey – they have beds that have storage shelves built in and simple and well-crafted furniture. They also sell great storage solutions and rugs.’
‘For quirky finds I always take a look at Eleven Past. The store has great kids’ accessories that are not your run-of-the-mill items as well as great desks in a contemporary style.’
‘Esque is right up there for me for furniture; it’s one of my favourite stores, for sure. They have great seating options, cabinets and lighting.’
‘Art is my passion, and you cannot beat Society Six for well-priced, well-curated prints. There is something for everyone.’
‘Superbalist.com has some lovely things online and it’s well worth a look. From lighting to rugs to quirky wall shelves.’
