Every year, our readers enter their upgraded homes into our annual renovations competition. This year's finalists are simply brilliant. The winners are determined by reader votes, so make sure to vote for your favourite.

The winners of the House and Leisure Before & After competition will receive a trip for two to Thailand for a 5-star break. Incredible prizes are up for grabs by 13 lucky readers, just by voting for their favourite reader's home or room renovation. Prizes include Caesarstone Surfaces to the value of R10 000, a Sophia chandelier from K Light worth R10 000, a two-night stay for four guests sharing at Abalone House's Pool Villas, in Paternoster on the West Coast, worth R12 000 and much more! You can only vote once, so be sure to choose wisely.

Room Reno: Room #2 Bathroom

It’s hard to believe that this spa-like oasis with its view of the neighbouring milkwood forest was once a dreary room in a dark, dingy house.

Before

‘Our bathroom renovation was part of an entire house renovation, because the house was next to dreadful: dark, dated and dirty,’ says Anna Winters of the Noordhoek home she owns with her husband, Benjamin. The overall vision was to introduce as much natural light into the home as possible and bring in the peace of the outdoors, which has been successfully achieved in their bathroom.

The large, glass pop-out extension allows for an uninterrupted view of the forest, while wooden duckboard flooring and bathroom counters, a neutral colour palette and a freestanding bath have created a strong sense of calm.

Do collect the ideas and things you love on joint Pinterest boards with your partner. Use these to share your likes and loves with your designer, architect or builder.
Don't despair if your project takes longer than you planned and/or runs a bit over budget. It won’t matter in a year when you are enjoying your new space.
