An Inspired Home Office Renovation

Sarah de Pina

Spirited couple Nick and Nicola Argyros transformed a dated house in Blairgowrie, Johannesburg into an elegant modern space that reflects their personalities and heritage. Of the renovation, Nicola says,‘We wanted to create a look that’s both interesting and modern but won’t date. So we decided to fuse timeless items with personal treasures collected on our travels.’ One of favourite revamped rooms is their new spacious home office (converted from a third bedroom), which serves as a serene room in which to catch up on emails and browse the Web. ‘We removed the one wall to create a more open-plan feel, which complemented the overall seamless look we wanted to achieve,’ she explains. As the room is slightly narrow, the couple also exposed the ceiling beams to create an illusion of volume and to draw the eye to this design feature. Beautiful artwork, understated design and the avoidance of clutter also contributes to the success of the space.
