Rise of the Farmstagram
In the 2016 HL Trend Report, we named the Farmstagram a top trend to watch in the year ahead, and if you’re the sort who’s regularly daydreaming about a simple pastoral lifestyle, you’re going to want to keep your eye on this one. The movement has seen a steady rise in bucolic images featuring grumbling tractors, new-born lambs, fields of grain and more on Instagram. It seems farmers everywhere are taking to the social media platform to document their daily agri life, and the Instagram community is loving it. In fact, these wholesome rural pics have become so popular, they’ve ultimately garnered their very own #farmstagram hashtag. We’re assuming the craze has something to do with people’s growing appreciation for a down-to-earth, grounded existence that strips away the manic frivolity of city living. Aside from delighting the eye, the images also offer a window into another more wholesome world that the country mouse in many of us seems to crave. With this in mind, we’ve gathered together 12 of our favourite Farmstagrams to feed the Old MacDonald in you – you can follow all the Igers below to get your daily dose of rural artistry.

cultivating crops
After planting and spraying, we generally cultivate our crops as well as side dress them with nitrogen before their first in crop irrigation. Most of our fertiliser is applied before planting but we top up the crops nutrient requirements once it's up and growing! This photo was taken at my Uncles place, hence the different soil texture! @justinyarrow #mydayinag #australiancotton #fertilising #farmersgottafarm #johndeere A photo posted by My Day In Ag (@mydayinag) on

Sorry for the absence. But I've been hay making like a.......well, like a hay-maker I suppose. I just loaded the last 11 bales from this mountain meadow before the sky turned bible black. I crawled down the hill and up the other end of the valley and stuck them in the barn when the heavens opened. #hay #mountainfarm #greatwesterncatskills A photo posted by Evans & Evans Farm (@evansandevansfarm) on
