Victoria Verbaan Illustrations


Well-known Durban artist, Victoria Verbaan is exploring her creativity and growing her body of work through her new series of daily illustrations. Her ‘sketch a day’ project is aimed at freeing her artistic style. Having initially functioned under a rigid work regiment that crippled her creative style, these daily illustrations offer a unique contrast and new interpretation to her previous work. ‘They are my playtime, where I don’t worry about the outcome. I am however, very disciplined and committed to the creative process,’ says Victoria. This new and varied creative series has been interpreted on a range of products including bags, making them accessible and offering a piece of on-trend artwork. Victoria is best known for her Smoking Daxi range started in 2009, which included fabric and cards, but her new body of work captures an altered style with a hint of elegance. The print sizes vary, ranging from 20cm x 25cm retailing at R375 each, to 35cm x 48cm retailing at R720 each.
