The lovely ladies behind two birds with some stones, one of the Mother City’s newest emerging jewellery design duos, produce slightly eclectic pieces that are reflective of their lively personalities. If you haven’t yet come across their work, they recently kicked off the first in a series of exciting showcases at Cape Town’s combined laundromat, coffee shop and art gallery, I Love My Laundry. The ‘birds’ behind the brand, Stacy Adriaans and Jeanie Hugo Elliott, have teamed up with their host on Buitengracht Street, who will be throwing a number of Laundry Parties, inviting local artists to showcase their skills. The pair will be creating a fabulous weekly window display celebrating jewellery and design, which will change every Wednesday for the next four weeks. And with each different display jewel lovers will be treated to a new collection of their concept-based silver jewellery. Their first display, which launched on Wednesday, 6 February 2013, featured their individually hand-sawn silver suburb name tag pendants, that celebrate the Cape Town suburbs they live in. The upcoming display on 13 February will include a range of silver casted coffee bean jewellery, inspired by the city’s appreciation for good coffee. All jewellery on display will be for sale. Pop in to meet the ‘birds’ or to see the talented ladies setting up their latest window display every Wednesday, between 8am – 9am until 5 March 2013 at 59 Buitengracht Street, Heritage Square, Cape Town.
