Turn Trends into Gold
On Thursday 10 March 2016, HL launched its first Trends Event at bulthaup's stunning showroom in Joburg's design quarter, Kramerville. One step through the door of this lovely venue immersed industry leaders and design lovers in a world set on exploring one of the most dazzling trends of the year, gold, in design, decor, fashion and food.
In partnership with sponsors bulthaup, Plascon and Gaggenau, the afternoon kicked off with editor Tiaan Nagel and MC Thithi Nteta opening up the floor to a colour forecast and paint techniques presentation by Plascon's Anne Roselt and Claire Bond.
This intriguing tutorial was followed by a decor trends Q&A by stylist and designer Mia Widlake, a discussion about gold in fashion by designer Rich Mnisi, a look into food trends to come by brand strategist Genevieve Farry and a brief breakdown of bulthaup's and Gaggenau's brand histories and best product offerings.
Guests were treated to exquisite canapes by Vicky Crease Caterers and wine chilled to perfection courtesy of Fleur du Cap Guest, while taking in a punchy art installation by Jana + Koos to the backdrop of sweet sounds by Medicine Boy.
