The construction of the Treetop Walkway at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens is well underway. Snaking through the Arboretum, the structure is 130m long and built from galvanised steel and timber. At its highest, it will rise 11m from the garden’s floor. It has aptly and endearingly been nicknamed, ‘Boomslang’ for its winding, snake-like appearance. The formal opening to the public will be in April 2014. It will be free to all paying visitors. *Adam Harrower, a horticulturist at Kirstenbosch, has provided these breathtaking photographs of the walkway. For more information, visit sanbi.org.
