Studio Ashby designs eclectic apartments in London

Supplied

Influenced by London's historic past, the newest project by Studio Ashby focuses on nine exclusive apartments at London’s new landmark destination, One Crown Place. The interiors evoke a strong sense of place and personality, combining modern luxury with handcrafted tradition.

For this project, Studio Ashby joins three key sensibilities – curating, collecting and commissioning – in an aesthetic inspired by the imagined homeowner, an individual interested in the arts and a love for the rich history of East London. Located on London's East End fringe, Hackney is an area known for its eclectic mix of local creatives and artists.

With a base palette of muted tones, bolder colours are brought in with key items of furniture, while the walls are adorned with a selection of art sourced from local galleries. A modern parquet flooring finish features throughout the apartments, and, for another natural touch, an array of luxe marbles have been used. To inject each apartment with a strong creative energy, Studio Ashby commissioned potters, painters, wood turners and other artisans to create unique pieces, resulting in an environment that blends seamlessly with the outside world.

‘We curate each space and each project so carefully, in the hope that we might tell a few stories that our viewer truly connects with. We work with local craftsman, artists, makers and creators to create interiors that are personal and alive,' comments the studio's founder, Sophie Ashby.
