It’s impossible not to be instantly captivated by these snapshot cushion covers (45 x 45cm) produced by Ballack Art House, based in Brooklyn, Pretoria. Artist and photographer Ivan Ballack has taken his photographic work and printed it onto fabric, creating these charming accessories that have a definite nostalgic feel. You’ll find intriguing subject matter from vintage cars and swimming pools, to animal skulls and other forlorn imagery. After attaining a degree in visual communication, Ivan went on to specialise in design and art direction and also graduated with a diploma in interior decor. It’s not surprising that his mixed interests led to this photographically-inspired product range. The product line of canvas prints also extends to magnets, A2 posters, post cards, T-shirts, bed linen, aprons, place mats, iPhone covers and bags. The cushions – of which Ivan says the typewriter image is his favourite (we agree!) – retail from R300, depending on the size.
