Rising Stars 2013: Margot Molyneux

When did you start Margot Molyneux? I started the brand as a part time effort in 2009, and it has since grown into a full-time job. How would you describe your clothing line and brand? Margot Molyneux is a Cape Town-based brand focused on producing simple cut women's wear. We concentrate on keeping our styles classic and only loosely trend-based. We believe strongly in South African production and produce everything in our studio. Tell us about The Poncho Project… The Poncho Project is something I have been thinking about for a while. It’s a non-profit project that we started in April this year. It is centred around donations, which are used to purchase materials and pay for production. We have managed to raise funds and produce 265 adult and child ponchos, which we have donated to various organisations around the city. What are you currently working on, and what can we expect from next season’s line? We are busy working on our spring samples. We are looking forward to introducing some colour, as well as some texture and print, print being something fairly new to our brand. We are also busy putting some accessories together as pieces to compliment the clothes. To view Margot’s designs, visit Text Lisa Wallace
