Q&A: Defy

HL chatted to Defy's category manager, Brent Johnson about the brand's eco-friendly fridges and the best options for your kitchen. How do I choose the right fridge for my kitchen? These days you have a variety of refrigerators to choose from – there are bottom or top freezer refrigerators, side-by-side fridges as well as French door fridges. Of course, dimensions need to be considered when making your choice. Refrigerators also come in a variety of colours and finishes, so a sense of your kitchen’s colour and style should also affect your purchase decision. The size of your family is another factor to take into consideration, as a small fridge would certainly not be ideal for a large family. Fridge functionality is another determining factor, as different fridges boast different features and may thus contain one or all of those that you need. Energy-efficient refrigerators also need to be considered, as they are built to reduce electricity costs and benefit the environment. Are there any energy-efficient options that are budget-friendly and stylish? Yes, there certainly are. Defy recently launched its 55cm and 60cm 'A' and 'A+' energy combi range. These refrigerators are beautiful, affordable and energy-efficient. Why is it important to choose an eco-friendly fridge? Energy-efficient refrigerators consume a lot less electricity, thereby benefitting the environment whilst resulting in reduced electricity costs. With eco-friendly fridges, you save both money and the planet.  What’s so 'cool' about a no-frost system? What makes a no-frost system so great is that it removes the need to manually defrost your freezer, whilst additionally reducing electricity costs. When ice accumulates inside the freezer, it decreases the unit’s effectiveness and uses more energy to maintain the right temperature. With a no-frost fridge, there is no ice accumulation, meaning your fridge continues to work as it is meant to, ultimately saving you from hefty electricity costs. Text Katharyn Williams-Jaftha
