The Oranjezicht City Farm Market is relocating to a new winter venue.
From 6 June onwards, the weekly market will take place in Granger Bay, behind The Lookout venue at the V&A Waterfront. The new set-up will include a tented area to provide shelter from the winter cold.
The market has been enjoying a six-month residence at Premier Helen Zille’s Leeuwenhof estate, with the grounds opened up each Saturday for families to enjoy picnics and make use of its large swimming pool and tennis courts. However, the estate’s lush lawns will not be able to withstand the foot traffic generated by the increasingly popular event during the wet winter months.
Market organiser Sheryl Ozinsky told EatOut that they intend to reapply at the end of October to once again host the market at Leeuwenhof during summer, adding that this relocation was always on the cards.
With no similar markets presently taking place on the Atlantic Seaboard side, the new location is also likely to attract a whole new crowd of attendees looking to weather out the winter in style.
For those wanting to experience the OZCF Market before its big move to the seaside, don’t panic! There are still two Saturdays remaining at the Leeuwenhof venue in which to do so.
