Also known for her range of illustrated cards that we featured previously, designer Anja Stoeckigt is rapidly adding innovative new designs to her product line made predominantly from paper and wood. How cute are her origami-inspired brooches that we recently came across? Anja tells House and Leisure, ‘I started with my ‘origami-style’ brooches as I wanted to keep them within the "paper" theme of my business, but slowly other ideas kept popping into my head and I just had to create some of my other little characters.’ Made from wood and each adorned with its own unique little touches, we love the simple shapes she’s used to depict various animals or characters. These include everything from an imaginative bunny with a moustache, to fashionable foxes and a hip bumble bee sporting headphones. Justifying the creation of her brooches, she says that girls can never have enough accessories to play around with. We have to agree. Anja adds, ‘As I have always been attracted to quirky and fun designs, I aim to make my customers smile and brighten up their day with my little products.’ We definitely think this is one creative to watch and we can’t wait to see what she does next. All origami brooches cost R80 each, and are available online from we-heart-this.com. To see Anja’s other designs go to facebook.com/loveforpapertales or anjastoeckigt.wordpress.com.
