House and Leisure’s November Summer issue hits the shelves today. The cover beach house, located in Dwarskersbos on the West Coast, with its Bali furnishings and uninterrupted ocean views, is the holiday home of Pedro and Renée De Sambento and their daughter Sanchia. The cover includes splashes of blue, red and white, the perfect colour scheme for this season’s nautical look. This issue’s Love This Look, entitled ‘Ship Shape’ on page 13, is full of ideas on how to incorporate nautical chic into your home. Something as simple as an interesting blue-and-white scatter cushion, accents of red to brighten up a decor piece, or naval-inspired wallpaper all create a quirky focal point. The use of cool linens give a space a breezy feel, and the contrast of warm wood against crisp white is what this month’s Shopping Inspiration trend is all about. My selection of items this week is in line with the nautical theme. These objects embrace a more laid-back, summery style both indoors and out. With the summer sunshine teasing us, it’s time to dust off those frocks and spend more time outdoors and jaunty stripes, like this dress from Dillon and Jada, always scream ‘nautical’. The just-released UV Pro Outdoor Fabrics available at Home Fabrics are perfect for the outdoors and come in a variety of colourways.
