In our March 2013 Small Spaces issue, the Joburg Decor team put together a spectacular production that highlights new ways to incorporate vintage into your home. Rather than allowing heavy heirlooms to create a stuffy atmosphere, the team balanced old with new, and found ways to make striking modern pieces sit comfortably aside your precious antiques and vintage finds. The location was the aptly industrial Museum of African Design (MOAD) in Maboneng. The venue, which was originally a factory warehouse built in the 1920s, is usually used for exhibitions and parties. A truck-full of goodies arrives, ready to be turned into a beautiful production. A selection of gorgeous carpets from Paco Rugs. Stylish bicycles can make any space feel lived in and welcome. Furniture and objets ready to be unwrapped and arranged. Photographer Aubrey Jonsson searching for the perfect shot. Getting down with the props!
