In our August 2012 Luxury issue our decor team created a beautiful, opulent interpretation of eastern influence in ‘Orient Expressions’ (page 15). It demonstrates how you can introduce touches of modern chinoiserie into your home and create that distinct, exotic look and feel. Think intricate wallpapers and fabrics, to items like lamps and pendants, and exquisite pieces of crockery and furniture, and amalgamating all these elements to add a slice of the orient to your decor.
Photographer Greg Cox teamed up with House and Leisure‘s Decor Editor Jeanne Botes to recreate this classic look in studio.
This ensemble of objects was the starting point for the gorgeous shoot – it’s amazing what can be done with the right attention to detail, talented stylists, and being able to get the perfect shot.
These koi-inspired fabrics and objects reflect the oriental theme beautifully.
Cherry blossoms and other delicate florals were another important basis for the shoot.
