Item of the day: the mighty wallet

The Mighty Wallet first made itself known at New York's Museum of Modern Art, where it flew off the shelves with a record number of sales, and from February 2012, the revolutionary currency carrier will be available in SA. We love its quirky aesthetic and simple, androgynous shape – it definitely brings a whole new meaning to the term 'flaunting your wealth'! Available in a series of 70 different graphics from paper-esque designs such as airmail, ring-binders and newsprint to more edgy graffiti, cartoons and Campbell’s soup can motifs, there’s a print for all tastes. The plain white design can also be customised by writing or drawing on its water-resistant surface. But the wallet isn't all about aesthetics. Marketed for its durability, the Mighty Wallet is made from an extra-strength version of the material used to make express mail envelopes (Tyvek). The secret of its strength lies in its folded design that eliminates stitching, a design shortcoming of most leather pocket wallets. Added bonus? The entire product is made of 100% recyclable materials that are tear-resistant, water-resistant and eco-friendly. Mighty Wallets will be available from February 2012 for R200 at select stores nationwide. For retail information call 082 414 8524
