Item of the day: Nina Marianelli Lamp
The Nina Marianelli table lamp is both organic and otherworldly. Designed by Barbara Sordino for Penta in Italy, the lamp is made of thick cold glass in an arresting shade of red, it is glossy on the outside and matte on the inside. Cold glass refers to a new material obtained by the mix of resin and glass powders. This mixture is melted at a temperature of 150 degrees and cast into moulds. Equipped with a dimmer, the Nina Marianelli lamp brings colour and edge to any room, and gives a warm and sensuous glow. Barbara Sordino is an Industrial Designer at the renowned Mariannelli Design atelier in Milan. As evidenced by her Nina Lamp, her definition of Industrial Design encompasses shape, functionality, simplicity and even poetry. The Nina Marianelli Table Lamp, R8000, is available at Head Interiors, Hyde Square, Corner Jan Smuts Avenue and North Road, Hyde Park, Joburg. Head Interiors, 011-325-2700.
