Sarah Ord’s new fabric range, Tesserae, is a kaleidoscope of colour, pattern and motif. Her bold dyes and strong prints hail from the romantic fragments of old churches, Persian fortresses, weathered frescoes and the citrus underpinnings of Mediterranean terraces. Her love of all things bright and beautiful is apparent in her showroom in Bree Street, Cape Town, where this Aladdin’s cave will have you spinning into a shopping frenzy. A must see for all interior lovers! The ‘colourways’ of the new collection are divided into 3 segments, each one brought to life on one of Sarah’s awe-inspiring colour themed boards (have a squizz at her website). The first is entitled Campari, adhering to the sultry lustre of the Latin pepperiness with a palette of blood reds paired with brass accessories and textured flooring. Then there’s Nile which is reminiscent of cool waters with accents of terracotta and splashes of orange and aqua. And lastly, Lemon, inspired by the Mediterranean – think cobalt blues, egg yolk yellow and magnificent geometric mosaics. Our pick of the day falls into this last category, our favourite oh-so-comfy, dazzling wingback. Studded and upholstered in the Palma Lemon print, it boasts a crazy zig zag of electric contours. This modern classic will certainly add an edge to any space and with summer just around the corner, it’ll bring some pizzazz to any dim interior. The Floriana wingback chair retails for R9,950.
