Supplied

Straight off a long weekend of celebrating, we thought we'd keep the merriment going with a round up of new and interesting drinks and experiences. From blending your own gin to water bottled from air, this is what's on the #HLDiscovery list this week.

wilderer rogue apple pie moonshine

#hldiscovery Primarily known for their award-winning grappa and gin, local brand Wilderer has just released a tantalising new drink that is full of flavour. Rogue Apple Pie Moonshine is a sweet and spicy spirit with notes of apple, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. It tastes almost exactly like apple pie, and warms you up from the first sip. Enjoy it in a cocktail or on its own.

the shed restaurant

#hldiscovery The Fig Tree Restaurant at De Hoop has moved and been transformed into The Shed. A stylish restaurant with wonderful views of the vlei, you can see pelicans and flamingos as you dine. A silo at the premises houses William’s Wine Cellar, which showcases local wines in an impressive rack that holds more than 3 000 unique wines. Expect an a la carte menu for breakfast and lunch, and a set dinner menu that changes regularly.

ouiBar + ktchn botanical gin blending bar

Gin lovers can enjoy the experience of blending their own gin with the new OUIBar + KTCHN, a botanical-gin-blending bar at the Radisson RED in the Silo District. The bar,  created with Cape Town ginmakers Hope on Hopkins, gives you all the measuring paraphernalia required as well as RED’s own reduced-sugar tonic water, garnishes and – of course – ice and glasses. All the ingredients needed to create and mix the perfect botanical gin and tonic are there for you to use as you please and you are free to follow certain recipes or get creative and do your own thing.

infinity air water

There are many brands of bottled water on the market, but none quite like Infinity Air Water. As the name suggests, the bottled water company sources water from the humidity in the air. Based in Stellenbosch, the brand was born in July 2018 when they had their first harvest of water. Now the company is distributing still and sparkling Infinity Air Water to hotels, restaurants, wine farms and corporates in Cape Town. According to them, harvesting water this way makes it perfectly pure, soft and alkaline.
