1. cire trudon candles at artefect
Artefect Antique and Interiors is known for bringing together antiques and covetable items from around the world. The latest addition to their showroom are remarkable candles by Cire Trudon – the world's oldest wax-producing factory. The company was founded by the Trudon family in 1643 and is known for supplying all the candles at Versailles during King Louis XIV's reign.
The epitome of luxury, Cire Trudon candles are expertly crafted from pure wax and come in a variety of exquisite scents that, when lit, manage to permeate every corner of a room. With a shape inspired by that of a Champagne bucket, the glasses that house the candles are crafted by artisans in Vinci, Italy, and the gold emblem was inspired by an old bas-relief found at the old Royal Wax Manufacturer in Paris, which used to belong to the Trudon family.
FindWine. is a new online service that makes finding and buying wine a lot easier. It allows you to peruse through wines in particular price ranges, and connects you with online merchants, who deliver to your door. Think of FindWine as a portal to wine merchants, working in the same way as finding well-priced flights on a website.
All the bottles listed on FindWine are award-winning vintages – so expect nothing less than premium quality. For easy navigation, FindWine has a smart rating feature, helping you make sense of the metallic stickers you see on bottles. The rating system is based on awards given out by local and international councils such as Platter's and Decanter.
3. velvet furniture from @home
@home Livingspace recently unveiled their 2018 Autumn/Winter range, and one of our favourite inclusions on offer is their velvet furniture. From the moment we saw velvet making a comeback on fashion runways, it was only a matter of time before it was being put to use on furniture. @home has a range of chairs, stools, sofa and headboards all upholstered in plush velvet fabric in various hues.
The array of colours available provides a fun, playful look and feel, while the elegant design of each piece ensures timelessness. These items are perfectly at home in both vintage-style and more contemporary interiors.
4. bu-ya ramen resturant
Ramen is undoubtedly one of the hottest food trends right now and, as a result, new dedicated ramen restaurants keep popping up. The latest addition to the foodie scene is Bu-Ya Ramen and Sake Bar, located in Kloof Street, Cape Town. Expect dishes such as grilled chicken and vegetable shio, spicy miso beef ramen and chashu shoyu, which is Japanese for pork belly. Bu-Ya also offers a decent selection of tapas, as well as sake and cocktails. They operate daily from 11 am until late.
