Spring is the season of fresh beginnings, new experiences and changes. This week’s #HLDiscovery list encompasses all of these elements. Here’s what’s on our radar this week.
1. spier 21 gables chenin blanc
‘Tis the season of white wine, and if you’re going to be sipping on some vino, why not enjoy one of the best? Just released, Spier 21 Gables Chenin Blanc 2017 has been recognised as one of SA’s best Chenin Blancs. It was listed in the Standard Bank Chenin Blanc Top 10 Challenge, making it the fourth time this wine has made the cut. A wooded, richly complex wine, on the nose you can expect hints of dried apricots and ripe tropical fruit and an oak and vanilla undertow. The palate has notes of peaches, almonds and is rounded and creamy.
2. watercoloured floral bed set
Slip into spring with this beautiful floral Giant Watercolour bedding set in Natural-Sand from @home. Part of the retailer’s Spring/Summer ’18 collection, it’s a stylish and easy way to update your sleeping space. Good looks aside, it’s made from pure cotton with a luxurious threadcount of 200 and is available in all the standard sizes from single to king extra-length (pillowcases included).
3. velvet cake co new stores
Possibly Cape Town’s favourite cake shop, The Velvet Cake Co has opened two brand-new stores, making its delicious confections more accessible. In August, a branch opened at Canal Walk Shopping Centre and this month it’s Tyger Valley Shopping Centre’s turn. These new additions come eight years after this well-loved bakery debuted in the Mother City’s Northern Suburbs, and it has been growing from strength to strength. Sweet indulgences on offer include the famous naked rainbow cake and milk-tart cupcakes.
4. greenworks gardening equipment
If you love DIY or getting your fingers dirty, you’ll appreciate Greenworks. The international brand markets a wide range of cordless garden and power tools, designed to make gardening and home chores simpler. Greenworks-branded products are powered by 24V, 40V, 60V, 80V, and commercial-grade 82V batteries – a cleaner form of energy – that perfectly suit the company’s ethos: a commitment to reducing its impact on the environment.
