Giant Scrabble tiles

If you have a passion for words and like to decorate your home with meaningful phrases, you'll appreciate these giant scrabble tiles from Joburg-based company Paperkutz. The online store who supplies laser-cut products made from paper, wood and acrylic, has an innovative approach to decor, producing everything from Marie Biscuit-inspired coasters to beautiful cupcake wrappers and more. These endearing tiles are designed by Di Franks, an ex-language teacher with a love of words and experience in graphic design and printing. Made from lightweight recycled wood, each tile is laser-engraved with block lettering and the miniature numerical values associated with each letter - matching the exact look and feel of your own set of Scrabble tiles at home. Commenting on the innate coolness of these items, Di tells House and Leisure, 'Our laser-cut pretty stuff is made from locally-sourced materials, while we prefer simple styles with a touch of quirkiness that also have a retro vibe.' You simply mount these Scrabble tiles onto the desired surface using presstick or double-sided mirror tape. If you don't necessarily want to stick them up, another great idea is to display them on a shelf to add a playful touch to an interior. The tiles are sold either as loose individual letters at R40 per tile (each measuring 15cm x 15cm), or you can buy them as ready-made kits. The two kits currently available spell out the words 'Chill', 'Love' and 'Relax' for R480 or 'Live', 'Laugh' and 'Love' for R440.  Visit paperkutz.co.za, email orders@paperkutz.co.za or call 011-447-3133...
