My last Parisian obsession, for today, is the latest fabric range from Hertex in collaboration with Tanya Sturgeon, titled “From Paris With Love”. This range features bold stripes, romantic lettering, faded prints and images from the city of love. Tanya, from The Silk & Cotton Company, scoured the streets of Paris for inspiration and she did not return empty handed. “I was inspired by my love for Paris. I go there every year at least once, and find it essentially such a feminine city. A lot of my inspiration for this collection came from my trip there in September last year”, she says. One glance at these swatches will tell you all you need to know about Tanya’s love affair with Paris. She continues, “These designs were taken from old documents that I’ve found at the Saturday morning market in Paris, and I had them modified into fabric designs.” Tanya took her photos and had them formulated into a design. This is the basis of the inspiration behind this fabric range. Some of these designs can be seen in Victorian Alphabet and Paris Damask. Even thought Tanya has just returned from a two year break, she clearly has not lost her touch. I adore these images. As Tanya says, they are feminine and in my opinion, classical and beautiful. They would be a welcomed addition to any of my designs. Lelanie Slater is a talented combination of interior designer, writer, blogger and lover of all things unique, beautiful and creative.
