Factory 5 is a collaborative project between Urban Lace – an interior design business with a penchant for pretty – and The Good Wood, who specialise in bespoke furniture creations. Their design adventure began just in time to take part in this year’s Durban Decorex and the results were rather pleasing, as they won the Best Newcomer Award. Their innovative furnishings focused on stools, lights and benches have been met with excellent reviews and an abundance of local interest. Useful, multi-functional pieces, made from a variety of wood such as Kiaat and Birch ply are fused with metal in an interesting and fresh design approach. The lines are clean and simple, yet make use of bold shapes in an array of finishes. The HEXframe Stool is geometrical in its shape and is manufactured in solid steel with Jacaranda seats. The metal colours are in pale pastel hues and can be custom coloured to match your style. Prices start from R950 to R2 480, depending on the size and wood used in the process. These on trend stools offer additional seating, but are ideally suited as an accent piece to round off a space.
