Designer Driers

MRP Home’s commitment to collaborate with local creatives has brought us some of the most striking homeware and design items (see Mia Widlake’s plates, cushions and rugs, for example) and now such partnerships have blessed us with the most stylish of beach towels too. The South African retail giant joined forces with four gifted artists from The African Art Centre to create these 100% cotton seaside gems, each of which is inspired by the essence of Africa. The visionaries involved included Sibusiso Duma (the pink flamingo), Timothy Mlambo (the penguins), Nontobelo Jilajila (the fish) and Mbali Mabuza (the beach scene). The detail on each of them is so endearing, and the colours used are bright and cheerful and simply scream ‘summer vacation’ (even the black and white penguin towel demands attention). The tasseled fringe is also a lovely touch. The towels go for just R199.99, so you can essentially own art for a very reasonable price. Visit for more information.
