Good news for decor and design enthusiasts: new show Design Joburg is scheduled to launch in May 2017 at the Sandton Convention Centre to showcase the trailblazers, pioneers and unfamiliar talents of the design world. Media 10 are responsible for the showcase, and have facilitated other flagship events such as Design Shanghai and Clerkenwell Design Week. Established in 2003, Media 10 is fast becoming the UK’s leading and most decorated event and media enterprise.
A number of iconic brands will come together under one roof, offering alluring room sets, collaborative exhibits, inspiring installations and groundbreaking technology systems for your home. Media 10 aims to reflect the unique global perspective of their innovators, allowing their audience to be inspired by the trends. A Rooms on View feature will be incorporated within Design Joburg with the help of interior designer Sumari Krige (La Grange Interiors), creating a ‘reinvigorated’ show within a show exhibit.
‘Rooms on View has developed a wonderful reputation over many years and will continue to play an important role in showcasing the best décor and design,’ says Sumari Krige.
Collaboration will be an integral part of the show, with interior designers, artists and architects being encouraged to participate in unified curated features. This blend of creative solutions, resources and approaches will engender an authentic, take-home quality that traders and consumers can be inspired by.
The creative direction of the event will be curated by Anatomy Design owners Andrea Kleinkloog and Megan Hesse. Their influence will ensure that this showcase will display South African design at its finest.
‘Our collaborative approach will combine interesting and resourceful exhibits, cutting-edge technology and the best craftsmanship. We want to create a refreshing and rousing show where visitors, the public and industry alike, can find inspiration, suppliers and solutions all in one space,’ says Andrea Kleinloog, adding, ‘We want to break the mould of a traditional expo and create a live Pinterest board.’
