Following its successful inaugural tap design competition last year (see HL November 2013), Cobra Watertech is once again looking for fresh, pioneering and out-of-the-box designs this time for kitchen mixers, for the 2014 Cobra Design Competition, which offers cash prizes totalling R100 000 for winners. The critical need for all South Africans to save water and energy has informed this year’s competition brief, calling for designers to conceptualise workable solutions for water and energy conservation that have the potential to reduce the impact on the environment. This year’s judging panel comprises industry experts drawn from the plumbing, manufacturing and design fields, including Naomi Larkin, Editor of House and Leisure; Rory Macnamara, Editor at Large at Interact Media, and founder and publisher of Plumbing Africa magazine and Plumbdrain Africa exhibition; Greg Scott, Director of Greg Wright Architects & SITE Interior Design; Ronelle Badenhorst, Business Unit Manager at Cobra Watertech; Natie van der Westhuizen, Manufacturing and Technical Director at Cobra Watertech; Marcia Margolius, Editor of SA Décor & Design.
