Classic Revivals

South African furniture design company, Classic Revivals is celebrating its 60th anniversary. Run by the Rech family, this local manufacturer has managed to maintain its fine crafting techniques for an impressive six decades. HL found out more about what goes into the creation of their locally crafted furniture. What crafting techniques do you use? We are champions of detail. Traditional techniques like dovetail joints, intricate marquetry and detailed fretwork are all very much a part of what we do. Naturally, there has been a huge shift in manufacturing in our factory that places sustainability, alongside craftsmanship as major priorities for us. What inspires your designs? We are inspired by every one of our clients. Every project brings new ideas and new inspiration. We are also influenced by designs of yesteryear, and enjoy finding inspiration in different periods. French period furniture in particular is often a reference with its perfect proportions and elegant lines.
