urban cities inspire fabrica's new range of rugs
Posted: 03 April 2017
Fabrica, has looked to the road maps and architecture of urban areas in Johannesburg and Cape Town to come up with a new collection of rugs. The Citymapmats range translates the facades of buildings and windows into abstract-patterned carpets, which are hand-tufted using 100% wool. To create them, Kirsten helped train local crafters in the necessary skills and worked closely with expert weavers in India. This project forms part of a larger collaboration at Gathere, a new co-working space, studio and workshop in Kramerville, where international platform Ants will be hosting Fabrica's Citymapmats alongside work by Henriette Botha and They're Wonted.
