Cavendish Square in Cape Town is hosting their annual Charity Book Sale, this time to raise funds for over 30 charities. Last year’s sale raised over R400 000 and they’re hoping to exceed that amount this time around.
Participating charities include DAARG, Beauty Without Cruelty, TEARS, Wola Nani, Nazareth House, St Luke’s Hospice, Cape Kidney Association, Woodside Special Care, Cape of Good Hope SPCA, Diabetes SA and many others.
Bev Whelehan, the charity convenor behind the sale, believes that the event has become important to the plight of the many charities involved. ‘It has now become the main fundraiser of the majority of the participating charities,’ she says.
