#AnotherLightUp inspires community engagement by using street art to raise social awareness. The project aims to fund the installation of a street light system in Monwabisi Park, Khayelitsha, as well as raise funds for streetlights to improve a 700m pathway between public taps and other areas. Installing lights is one impactful move towards combating violence and crime. Faith47, Design Indaba Trust and Thingking have combined forces to create an interactive mural titled, The Harvest on De Waal Drive, District 6. By tweeting #anotherlightup, you can light up the mural temporarily and create awareness around the project. When enough funds are raised to install a light in Khayelitsha, the mural will light up for a full evening. You can also contribute by making a donation on the website, which is managed by the Design Indaba Trust. Each light costs R7 000 to install but donations from R100 up can be made via anotherlightup.com. Each donator contributing R5 000 or more will receive a limited-edition, signed print of the piece. Please note only one print per donor.
