Sting's massive Central Park West duplex apartment sold for $50M

Magazine Features
Sting and his wife, producer Trudie Styler, have sold their duplex apartment at the landmark 15 Central Park West for $50 million (about R670 million) to a mystery buyer after purchasing the property for just under $27 million (about R362 million) nine years ago. Lee F. Mindel of Shelton, Mindel & Associates was brought on board to unify the formerly separate apartments. Occupying the 16th and 17th floor of the building, the penthouse features a custom-made freestanding fireplace and a floating staircase. Dramatic touches of red – in a shade reminiscent of the work of Surrealist painter René Magritte – occur throughout the interior, which is spread out over nearly 5 500 square feet (500 square metres) and includes three bedrooms as well as a home office (or fourth bedroom). The massive New York residence has 44 feet (almost 14 metres) of frontage along Central Park and a nearly 400-square-foot (40 square metres) terrace. Images via
