Julia Day’s exquisite Johannesburg home is our January/February 2013 House of the Month. Julia’s architect husband, Jonathan Leibowitz, designed and built their open L-shaped family home on the space of a tennis court in Forest Town, proving that you don’t need a huge amount of space to live comfortably. In the article, Julia, who is the owner of Generation Design in Hyde Park, Johannesburg, shares her secrets to honest, lasting design, and shows off her innate Italian influences. ‘It’s simple, natural and clean, and even with all the design currents and chaos we are exposed to every day we haven’t grown tired of the style,’ she says. ‘There’s always something to be said for design that lasts through time.’ To read more about our House of the Month, pick up your copy of the January/February 2013 issue, on shelf from 17 December 2012.
