We asked Clyde Ackerman of Thirst Bar Services for a couple of cocktail recipes that will keep the winter chill at bay and remind us that summer sundowners are not too far off. In the 11 years since the mobile bar service opened its doors, it has become the number one choice in the country, whether for a house party or a large event, and it’s now known to specialise in bespoke cocktails such as the below (the company will even tailor-make cocktails to suit the theme of a function).
Hot buttered rum
25ml aged rum
25ml lemon juice
25ml honey syrup*
5 dashes Angostura Bitters
a thumbnail of salted butter
75ml boiling water
Pour all the ingredients in a mug and stir until the butter has dissolved.
Garnish with a lemon wedge and cinnamon stick.
*Make your own honey syrup by heating equal parts honey and water in a saucepan until the honey melts into the water.
37,5ml Tanqueray gin
25ml blackberry cordial
37,5ml orange juice
12,5 ml grapefruit juice
12,5ml elderflower cordial
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
Pour all the ingredients into a shaker, shake and strain into a tall glass filled with ice cubes.
Spoon crushed ice on top and garnish with a sprig of mint.
