Inspired by the French concept initiated by La Semaine du Goût, the French Society of South Africa is hosting a Week Of Taste to encourage food appreciation.
During this time, five top French chefs will work with several local chefs to create gastronomic experiences in eight cities in South Africa and Lesotho. The varied programme includes taste lessons, taste workshops, gastronomic dinners, tours of city markets and a social media food photography competition.
The idea is to encourage healthy eating habits, increasing people’s culinary knowledge, to introduce new flavours and most importantly to reinforce consumers’ knowledge of taste.
The event kicks off in Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Bloemfontein and Johannesburg from 19 to 25 May 2014 before continuing in the Vaal Triangle, Maseru, Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth from 26 to 31 May 2014.
