How do the gardens serve the hotel? I provide our regular guests with roses from our front garden and Bosman’s restaurant with blooms daily, and the herb garden supplies the needs of our kitchen staff. Describe a typical day. By 7am in summer I’m out dead-heading my roses. I love to see the water drops glistening on the rose petals in the early-morning light. What inspires you?  To see a seed germinating into something beautiful, and generating new plants from cuttings. Advice for gardeners? Keep to a routine, and you’ll succeed. Favourite flower? Since childhood, I’ve loved arum lilies. If you pick a bunch and arrange them in a vase, they will all turn towards each other! Highlight of your career? Compliments on my gardens from the hotel’s and guests.
