The Stellenbosch Wine Festival

The 2014 Stellenbosch Wine Festival, presented by Pick n Pay, kicks off on Friday, 24 January 2014. The festival begins with wine and dine promotions, followed by a blessing of the harvest (on Saturday, 25 January) in front of the town hall in Plein Street and a harvest street festival in Drostdy Road. The ten-day extravaganza will delight food and wine lovers with loads of exceptional culinary experiences, tastings, live performances and exciting outdoor activities. From picnics, pairings, game drives and grape stomping to high teas, golf, open air movies and gala dinners, organisers say visitors can expect a truly unique experience, whatever their age or interests. The festival culminates with an exciting three-day expo in Stellenbosch from 31 January to 2 February, where 69 wine estates will make over 345 wines available to taste or buy at the festival square. Gates will open at 12pm daily and tickets cost R170 for adults (this includes a glass and a R20 voucher redeemable at the wine shop or market). Under 18s pay R60 and children under 12 enter for free. Tickets are available online at pnptickets.co.za. Visit stellenboschwinefestival.co.za  for more information and the full festival schedule. Text Katharyn Williams-Jaftha
