SA wine with Spanish flair
Get out your sambreros and practice your salsa - Nederburg's newly released Spanish-style blend will certainly have you shouting 'olè!' Dubbed 2012 Ingenuity , this big, fragrant blend of Spanish varietals Tempranillo and Graciano is something to behold. Robust and lively, it gives way for bold flavour pairings like paella, chorizo, fillet and Serrano ham. An impressive collector's item too, Ingenuity has a 10 to 15-year maturation potential, meaning this wine isn't just your ordinary red. This is an 'impress the in-laws' wine; A 'bring out during a dinner party and wow your guests' red. And, if Spanish isn't your thing (ay ya yay!), there's also an Italian-style blend in the Ingenuity range featuring Sangiovese, Barbera and Nebbiolo making it a smooth and easy-drinking dinner red. There's also the Ingenuity White, a blend of no less than eight varietals with a strong Sauvignon Blanc focus, which manages to be self-assured, nuanced and easily paired. The Ingenuity reds retail for around R280 a bottle and the white retails for around R195. All three wines in the Ingenuity range are available from the Nederburg tasting room or online on vinoteque.co.za.
